Just for Life!

 
  “Let justice roll down like waters, and righteousness like an ever flowing stream.”  Amos 5:24Jesus was a great story teller.  Some of Jesus stories make you think, some make you rejoice, some make you laugh, and some knock your socks off by turning everything     upside-down!  All of Jesus’ stories help us to look at ourselves, see other people and the world around us in a new way, and give us a new pair of glasses to help us see the, compassion and justice of a loving God. We will look at five of Jesus’ stories in our theme material “Just for Life” .Grant me Justice!     Luke 18:1-8It’s Not Fair!            Matthew 20:1-16Good for Business!  Luke 16:1-10For the Birds!           Mark 4:30-32Who’s Righteous Now?  Luke 18:9-14 What’s fair?  In a world that values competition, bling, and fame, who decides who deserves what and how much of it? What is justice?  Is it about deciding who deserves what kind of punishment?  Who gets to do the deciding? Is the best way to make the world a better place to punish other people?These are all tough questions. Jesus’ stories make us look long and hard at what we value, how much we really need, and what we expect of other people or are willing to accept about or from them.  The surprise is that, even when Jesus’ stories turn our usual way of understanding things up side down, we find a new kind of justice, a new sense of hope and freedom, and a God who seeks a world that is loving and just beyond our imagining.
